General Information about Chemistry Research in Bristol
The School of Chemistry is one of the largest and best equipped departments in the UK. It was graded 5* in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise. Since 1999, organic and inorganic chemistry research have been housed in a new research wing which provides superb facilities for synthetic chemistry. The School's many research groups cover the full range of inorganic, organic, biological, physical, theoretical, analytical, environmental and materials chemistry. In 2004 the School recruited ~70 postgraduate students. A large number of studentships is available, including industrially-funded, Research Council and CASE studentships. In addition, there are University Postgraduate Scholarships and School of Chemistry Bursaries ideally suited for EU and overseas students.
